Launch of the Lille-based institute I4Lille!
An interdisciplinary institute focusing on inflammatory and infectious diseases
25 November 2025, at the University of Lille
David Launay and Nathalie Mielcarek officially launched the establishment of the Lille Interdisciplinary Institute for Inflammatory and Infectious Diseases (I4Lille).
More than 60 researchers, from 17 multidisciplinary teams, are working together to build this ambitious project, structured around three pillars: Research/Innovation, Care/Prevention, and Training/Dissemination.
I4Lille draws on complementary expertise, notably that of the Centre for Infection and Immunity of Lille (CIIL) and the INFINITE Institute (U1286), with the support of the CPER Resist-omics, the PRECISE and RESPIRE University Hospital Federations, and the SF2I federative structure, drawing on the clinical services and clinical research support of Lille University Hospital, national and European reference centres, and large cohorts and biobanks specifically dedicated to these themes.
The institute also integrates the Humanities and Social Sciences, Digital Technology, AI and Environmental Sciences, to provide a comprehensive and innovative approach to public health challenges.
The aim? To become an international benchmark in the fight against inflammatory and infectious diseases, by combining fundamental, translational and clinical research.
